I’m so glad you’re here!

I was born with a desire to make things pretty. I’ve learned that not only do I like to make things pretty, I like to make things and spaces that feel good, that feel right, and that work for you.

Grain+Dot was born at a desk of a very boring “graphic design” job in small town Montana. Ya know, the kind of town where design is important and people really care about that kind of stuff.

If you caught on to that sarcasm, we will get along just fine. My name is Brittany Henson and I’m the designer and dreamer behind all things Grain+Dot. I have a BFA in design from Montana State University, so you know, I’m legit. Grain+Dot is all about designing life. Both Interiors and graphics, helping you make life beautiful.

MY Story
I was born with a desire to make things pretty.

My favorite part of science fair was designing the poster. My childhood bedrooms underwent their fair share of redesigns because I loved how I could make the same room look and feel so different. And I was for sure addicted to shows like TLC’s trading spaces. Naturally, when it came time to choose my career path design was calling my name. I learned that not only do I like to make things pretty, I like to make things and spaces that feel good, that feel right, that work for you. Design is so much more than visual, a well designed space functions well. A well designed graphic, you guessed it, functions well.

Since my humble beginnings in Montana I moved to the greater Denver area with my husband in 2013.

And aside from my career as a designer, my heart always longed to be a mom. In 2018 we welcomed our daughter and it changed me in more ways than I could have imagined, motherhood has been my most cherished role. Now I get to go ham on things like Halloween costumes, Valentines boxes and all things birthday. After a three year struggle with secondary infertility, we also welcomed our son in 2022. An incredibly difficult and enlightening season that reminded me how much I love being a mom, their mom.

I like to share all of this love for motherhood, life and design on Instagram as well as on the blog. If you have a space, or an idea that you would like to not only look good, but feel good and work well for you, let’s work together to make it happen.
